Wedding Related again

I recently saw the Wedding Crashers in theatre and I was surprised at how good it was. It is the funniest comedy that I have seen in a long time. Just a warning though, there is sexual content.

I have just ordered over fifty dollars of glorious meat products from Premium Sausage. This tasty meat includes smokies, sausage coils and beef and pork jerky. Furthermore it will be delivered to my door! You can't beat that.

Here is a fairly upbeat song that I think I downloaded from some mp3 weblog a while back.

Stuff and other Stuff

Well I just got back from a wedding. It was in a beautiful mountainy place called Elkford and the weather was really nice. It was warm, but not enough to bake me in my tuxedo. There were attractive females, lots of tasty food and a chocolate fountain that somehow managed to escape being photographed. I managed to get a bit of sunburn on my ears, nose and scalp. I took over a hundred pictures with the aid of Daner McDaneson. Here is a sample picture. (cropped and much smaller than original ) I think you can click it ot make it a little bigger.

If someone wants a CD with the pictures on them let me know and I will probably make one for you.

The drive home was a little arduous. I decided that I wasn't going to spend the night there and travel four hours to get home to Medicine Hat. I had gotten about 6 hours of sleep maybe the night before from sleeping in my car so I wasn't exactly perky. Anyways I starting bugging out a bit and little visual tricks started to happen like my mind kept forming the reflections from signs and markers into strange things. For example I would think that two lights would be a car or that honeycombed shaped shadows were materializing on the horizon. Anyways, it wasn't too bad and I tried to keep alert with music, singing, wine gums and slaps to the face. Driving through Bow Island I was stopped by the poe-lease for speeding. I guess I was going 85 km/h instead of 50. In any case he was the most cordial police/rcmp guy that I have ever been stopped by and he let me go with a warning. I suspect he was lonely. The End.

Harry Potter Pirate Style

I just downloaded the new Harry Potter book in under 10 seconds. (It took me about a minute to find it) It is a 1.8 megabyte pdf file. Here is an article that discusses the topic. I might read a bit of it on my computer, but I can't imagine that it would be as enjoyable. However there are currently two copies at the house, being occupied so I can maybe get a head start or something of that sort. Also, it would be handy to have on a laptop or something if a person was prone to travelling with one. However to second degree I just started another book called Rockbound that won the Canada Reads award for the year.

I will try to update a bit more regularly but I will be occupied over the weekend. I have to go on a hunting trip and come back with 12 beaver tails or I won't be able to join a club I am interested in.

Hollywood List

Here is an interesting and short article on what is hurting Hollywood, and it doesn't really include pirating as a reason. You can kind of see how it is a little stale with movies like Mission Impossible III being made and the massive amount of remakes.

In personal movie watching news I will give a couple impressions.

Spanglish - I liked it a lot.

Racing Stripes - Painful for most adults to watch (including me) but entertaining for kids. (about a zebra that wants to become Seabiscuit and promote gambling and cheating for children)

I will probably see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory despite not being excited at Johnny Depps take on Willy Wonka.

Airbud + Movie Thing

Check out this amusing and short video. http://mediafetcher.com/?p=122&page=2

Yesterday I saw the movie Bride and Prejudice. It was good. I recommend it to anyone that isn't repulsed by singing, Bollywood, or Jane Austen. Another movie that you might be familiar with that the director has done is Bend it Like Beckham. It is using the story of Pride and Prejudice and setting it in modern day India.

Narnia trailer

One thing I forgot to mention is that they showed a trailer for the new Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe movie last night. It look pretty good. It might be watchable at one of these links. Actually I don't think the trailer is online yet, but there is a little video at that link anyways.

*edit - Also there is a somewhat interesting interview here with the cast of the Fantastic Four here.

It's Market'n Time!

Probably no one will get this title, but that is your problem. I can't complain about frisbee woes today since we did paintball instead. Perhaps at a later date I will post a picture of one of my horrific battle wounds.

Anyways I just saw the Fantastic Four movie. Overall I would say it is pretty good. Not as good as say, the Spider-man movies but a solid comic book movie. It has a lot of decent humour and good visual effects, especially for Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch. Another positive point in the movie is the brief moment when you see Jessica Alba in her underoos. Certain aspects stick out a bit because, I assume, they are trying to remain true to established stories. For example, there is this blind character that really bugs me. Another thing that aggravated me, and might not be noticible to most people, especially kids, is the numerous background product placement in it. They changed the Dr.Doom character a little I guess so that might bug fans of the source material, but I was never really too familiar with it so I didn't care. Having said all this, the absolute worst part of the movie is the brief appearance of BEN MULRONEY. It really shook me up.

$ 1.65

A few days ago I bought a new CD. It is the latest CD from Buck 65 entitled Secret House Against the World. I had some familiarity with his stuff from music videos and radio and then I heard a lengthy interview between him and Jian Ghomeshi on CBC radio and three songs were played. To describe the music I would say that it is sort of rap/hip hop spoken word with lots of other elements. The lyrics can be pretty interesting. Here is a sample song.

Mosquitos

I hate them. Even if, instead of the West Nile virus, they had a small chance to give me a million dollars I would detest them just as much and seek vengeance just as energetically.

Eels Song

Here is a song from the new Eels 2-cd album. It has an upbeat catchy sound and is fun. Also, here is a picture of a cat that has had a good life.

Pizza on the BBQ

Making pizza on the barbaque probably sounds strange but it is actually quite simple. I originally saw how to do this on the Surreal Gourmet. First of all you need pizza dough, either make it yourself or get it at a bakery-type place. You just have to call and they will put some dough aside for you the next time they make dough. Then you can freeze the dough (in pizza sized portions) and thaw it out in the fridge overnight before you plan on making the pizza.
I tried to warm it up a bit but it didn't really get that warm. Luckily it didn't seem to matter

Below is a tray of the pizza toppings. Some deli meat, pan fried onions, mushrooms with some stick pepperoni, cheese (look lik carrots), and diced tomatoes and red pepper. Usually I use some ground beef and pasta too. You can pretty much use whatever toppings and sauce you feel like.

Here is the dough after I have rolled it out (over some cornstarch so it doesn't stick). I covered the exposed side with olive oil to prevent it from sticking to the grill.

Ok, to prepare the BBQ just turn both burners on max. Just before you put the dough on turn one side completely off (the side you put the pizza on) so that there is no flame under the dough. Let the dough cook for three minutes ( I closed the bbq during this) Usually it bubbles a lot worse than this picture, but I just stab it down after the three minutes is up. Then cover the exposed side with olive oil and then flip it over.

Now is the time to apply the toppings. I generally put a thin layer of pizza sauce on first and then the rest, ending with cheese. Once you have the toppings on close the barbaque and let it cook for around 15 minutes. That is about it.

I probably won't use diced tomatoes again because it is too liquidy and permeates all the cheese, and makes it more fluid. If you have any questions just use the comments.

Little Marcy!

Here is a site devoted to trombonist and ventriloquist Marcy and her children's music. It is a little before my time, but my family has at least one vinyl record of hers. She has such a beautiful, melodic voice, you just have to hear it to believe it. The site has many small mp3s to download including 'I Love Little Pussy' and 'Devil Devil Go Away'. There is also an interesting article on that site that details some of her life story.

Canada Day

Today Canada is 138 years old. (unless my math is bad) Here is one of my favourite songs from a once favourite Canadian band, the Barenaked Ladies. I think that they stopped being good when one of the original members left. This song was on a Bruce Cockburn Tribute album and it was their first music video. The video itself is really cool too. Here is the song BNL - Lovers In A Dangerous Time (a la yousendit)
