Johnny Cash Song

Here is one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs. It was actually written by Sting. This is from the fifth CD in the excellent 5 CD Johnny Cash compilation Unearthed. The image is an assignment to make a 'concrete poem' that I did for my typography class that utilizes the lyrics. I am fairly happy with it, although there are certain things that aren't right. Hopefully I have caught all the typos. You might have to squint a bit to make it all out unless you zoom in, sorry. Remember that the mp3 download will expire in a week.

There is a Johnny Cash movie out now that you are probably aware of. By all accounts it is a good movie, however I am quite familiar with him and his work, I have even read his autobiography, (it is mentioned in the movie High Fidelity.) Anyways I don't really want to see a portrayal of his life and actors singing his songs. I have seen a lot of real footage of him, and I have a fairly large collection of his CDs. However I am not saying you shouldn't see the movie, I just don't think it is right for me.

Bush mp3

Do you like to stick it to the man? Do you harbour unAmerican feelings for George W. Bush? Well give this song a listen. I find it very interesting, and a little haunting. If for some reason that link doesn't work try here and download the Trans Am - Uninvited Guest song. This is an old song I think, so you may have heard it. I just heard it on CJSR through the internets so I looked it up and voila.

Or if those don't work try this.

Movie Review: Just Friends

There are three reasons you should see this movie.

First of all this movie was shot in Saskatchewan. (Supposed to be New Jersey, wherever that is.)

Secondly as a result of the First reason there is real snow in this move. (Christmas Movie -Whoops- I mean Winter Holiday Movie) Anyways I am always bugged when I see real snow because it looks so fake! Stupid LA fat cats.

Thirdfully this movie is quite funny and as a result is deemed good. It is cleverly written and Anna Faris plays quite a hilarious character, but I won't elaborate because I am sneaky.

I was surprised that this movie turned out to be that entertaining even though I found it somewhat depressing in a way that makes me totally cool. So check it out if you want to laugh and see real snow.

If you see it and like/hate it let me know! -> comments

2 goofy pictures

One of these is a picture of Mel Gibson and the other is a hilarious owl picture that is affiliated with an internet fad joke that you are probably better off not knowing about. I won't tell you which one is the owl. I got the strange Mel Gibson image from this article about him.. and pyramids or something.

Here are some scans of the obituary and the pamphlet thing they had at the funeral (my parents went) for those who are interested.

Cute Dancing Robots

I stole this from BoingBoing. It is a link to streaming video of Beck's new video that features dancing robots. They have some pretty hot moves, and even use fans. There is a link for windows and real play streams. The windows one appears to require some kind of registration but thankfully the real player one does not. See the link here that I stole it from if you want to see an unimpressive picture.

"A sparrow knocked over 23,000 dominoes in the Netherlands, nearly ruining a world record attempt before it was shot to death Monday."

A Couple Shots

I took some pictures outside a few days ago. It looks like I may have made them a little.. tiny. They get a wee bit bigger if you click on them at least.

Cats and Hibernation

Check out this article here to see why this mountain lion and this house cat are 'sleeping' in close proximity. Hint - it might involve electricity.

More!

Go here to look at the multitude of ways that a rabbit could do away with itself. I could post an example picture but I don't want to!

Wacky Comics

This guy has some pretty funny comics. Here are two examples. Click for full size.

Lots

I bought a 1.1 kilo bag of dorito/sunchip/pretzel/cheezie mix yesterday. Probably not my wisest purchase. Here is an online article on binge eating that I don't really feel like reading, but I skimmed it! You might find it interesting. "trifecta of stress, deprivation and tempting junk food" That is pretty much the gist of it.

On a related note I should dig up the article about the puma and housecat that were simultaneously electricuted sometime.

The Theme Song for your Life

While listening to the new CBC radio show 'Freestyle' yesterday I heard about a website that tells you your life's theme song. How does it do something so magical you ask? Well you input the date of your 18th birthday and select USA or UK and it selects the top of the music charts for that time (I guess) There is no Canadian button so I guess it isn't my true theme song, but oh well. Anyways my life's theme song is Too Close - Next. I had no idea so I did some research and discovered that this musical masterpiece contains lines such as Baby when we're grinding I get so excited and also You're dancing like you're naked Oh, it's almost like we're sexing (oh yeah). Surely this can't be my theme song.So I tried the UK charts and it yielded far better results. Run DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That. This is a much more palatable choice. Not only do I know what it is, it is one of my favourite videos and songs. The video features a kind of breakdancing danceoff between some men and women (hot). It's cool. Unfortunately I couldn't find the video in my limited time.

*update - You can see it at Jason Nevins' site here if you want. (click on videos) It is the best I could find. You just have to be patient for it to load. Bleh, the quality is pretty crappy.

Mleh

It is days like this, when I am agitated, that I wish I walked/drove around with a dozen eggs. Then I could just distribute justice as went along. For example, the gigantic hummer today would have been egged. People that litter are good targets too. Here is a picture of a puppy.

Political Arguments via Magic

Here is a thing on Fark I saw this political flamewar using magic cards. Some are pretty amusing.

Email Time Capsule

Here is a kind of interesting idea about email time capsules that you mail to youself that arrive at some point in the future. So if you are into that kind of thing go nuts. I myself am too chicken.
