Here is an interesting and short article on what is hurting Hollywood, and it doesn't really include pirating as a reason. You can kind of see how it is a little stale with movies like Mission Impossible III being made and the massive amount of remakes.

In personal movie watching news I will give a couple impressions.

Spanglish - I liked it a lot.

Racing Stripes - Painful for most adults to watch (including me) but entertaining for kids. (about a zebra that wants to become Seabiscuit and promote gambling and cheating for children)

I will probably see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory despite not being excited at Johnny Depps take on Willy Wonka.
